Cable Percussion (CP) Drilling is one of the most common methods of drilling used in the UK. It is perfect for drilling all types of soil in both granular and cohesive soil types.

Jackson Drilling are able to drill through a wide variety of ground conditions in casing diameters of 300mm, 250mm, 200mm and 150mm. We are able to undertake SPT’s, U100’s, bulk sampling and disturbed sampling.

We are able to, and have experience of drilling in most settings;

• Brownfield sites
• Industrial settings
• Airports – both airside and non-airside
• Over water on jack ups, spud barges and pontoons
• Domestic properties
• Highways works

All drill crews are fully trained and competent. All crews hold CSCS cards and the Lead Driller will be qualified to at least NVQ L2.

In suitable ground conditions, Jackson Drilling have drilled to 90m below ground level using this methodology.

Not only can Jackson Drilling provide a CP crew but we can also provide all ancillary items including a bowser, water standpipe, installation materials, breaker & power pack and track mats.

Our crews use a variety of rigs including Dando 2000, Dando 2500 and Dando 3000.

The rigs are mobilised to site with a 4x4 towing the rig. Additional casing is mobilised with a 4x4 towing a trailer.

This method of drilling can be used to drill and sample through soft materials and leave casing in place to continue drilling with a rotary drilling rig.
